Water Week 2017 is just around the corner, and excitement is quickly building as key members of Congress confirm their participation and an agenda of high-caliber events rounds into shape. Anchored by the National Water Policy Fly-In (March 21-22) and the inaugural Capitol Hill Rally for Water (March 22) the Week will provide a pivotal opportunity for the municipal water sector to elevate water as a national priority. There is still time to register, so make plans now to participate and add your voice!
Elected officials confirmed for participation in the Fly-In and Rally include Rep. Garret Graves (R-LA, Chairman of House Water Resources and Environment Subcommittee); Rep. Elizabeth Etsy (D-CT, Vice Ranking Member, House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee); Rep. Paul Tonko (D-NY); Sen. Ben Cardin (D-MD); Sen. Tom Carper (D-DE, Ranking Member on Senate Environment & Public Works Committee); and Rep. Bob Latta (R-OH). Additional speakers are expected to be confirmed in the coming days. A number of senior EPA officials are also confirmed to provide the latest information on key Agency priorities and initiatives.
Registration slots for the Fly-In are still available, but time is running out. With a new Administration and a new Congress in power in Washington, it is more important now than ever that federal policy makers hear directly from you about the clean water issues facing your community. Join you clean water colleagues, meet with your elected representatives, and help us elevate water as a national priority!
